Why the new packaging?

If you have recently noticed our new light blue 1 kg packages on store shelves, you may have wondered why they are not transparent. Wouldn’t it be better to see the product straight away?

That is a perfectly valid question. In fact, our decision was not based on design alone. Quite the opposite. The most important purpose of packaging is to protect the product and help it maintain its appearance as well as possible throughout its shelf life.

Why is packaging important in the first place?

Before a frozen product reaches your freezer, it may spend weeks or even months in supermarket freezers. The freezer lighting remains on throughout the store’s opening hours, and the doors are opened repeatedly during the day. This means that products are exposed to light for much longer than you might initially think.

This is where packaging comes into play. Fully printed packaging helps reduce the effects of light and protects the product throughout this time, until it reaches your shopping basket.

Light also affects frozen food

Although freezing significantly slows down changes in food, prolonged exposure to light can affect the natural colour of frozen products.

This is particularly noticeable with green products. You may have noticed that frozen dill, peas, spinach or broccoli can sometimes become more yellowish or lose their vibrant green colour. Very often, this is not caused by the quality of the product, but by prolonged exposure to light.

What does this mean for quality?

It is important to know that a change in colour does not mean that the product has spoiled or become lower in quality. The product is still safe, high quality and suitable for use exactly as before. Only its appearance may change. This is precisely why we pay so much attention to packaging. We want to preserve not only the quality of the product, but also its natural appearance.

Good packaging does more than just look good

Packaging is often noticed first for its appearance, but for us, good packaging starts with how well it protects the product.

Fully printed packaging is not a random design choice, but a conscious decision. In addition to helping reduce the effects of light, the familiar LaFroza blue stands out well on store shelves and makes it easier to find your favourite products.

For us, it is important that the product looks its best not only when it leaves the production line, but also when it reaches your shopping basket. That is why we decided to invest in packaging that helps protect the product better throughout its entire journey.

But why not use transparent packaging?

Choosing packaging always involves balancing different qualities. Transparent packaging allows you to see the product immediately, while fully printed packaging helps protect it better from light. For us, this benefit outweighed the advantage of being able to see the product through the packaging.

If you would like to see what the product inside looks like before purchasing, you can find images and additional information about all LaFroza products on our website. This allows you to make your choice while the packaging helps protect the product as effectively as possible in the store.

The same reason our cup products come in boxes

If you have noticed that our cup products are packaged in boxes, there is exactly the same reason behind it. The box also helps reduce the effects of light and protects the product throughout the time it takes to reach your freezer.

Same quality. Simply better protected.

New packaging does not mean a new product. LaFroza berries, fruits and vegetables are still the same high quality as before. The only thing that has changed is how we protect them better before they reach your kitchen.

Because for us, packaging is not just a wrapper. It is an important part of quality. 💙
